The publisher Beamdog has confirmed that a new Baldur’s Gate game is in development. It won’t be a sequel to the previously released titles in the series, but the game will take place between events from the original game and Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of Amn.

Beamdog says it will release more information about the new title in the spring. This concerns information about the content that the game will contain and a release date. The name of the new game has not yet been announced. Beamdog talks about Adventure Y, but that’s probably a code name.

The new game claims to fill the gap between Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition and Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition. Those games are remakes of the first two Baldur’s Gate games that came out in 1998 and 2000. The reissues also include the expansion packs that have been released. The new game runs on the Infinity engine that has been used before.

In addition, another game is already planned. Beamdog will provide more information about this at the end of the summer. For now, the company only confirms the existence of that title. The game has a connection to content they have worked on in the past. In any case, no concrete work has been done on titles like Dungeons & Dragons 5 or Baldur’s Gate 3, Beamdog reports.
