Be quiet will release Shadow Rock 3 CPU cooler at the beginning of March for 50 euros
The German be quiet is launching the latest addition to its Shadow Rock midrange cooler series on March 3 for 50 euros. The Shadow Rock 3 has several minor differences compared to its predecessor: the Shadow Rock 2 from 2013.
Compared to the Shadow Rock 2, the Shadow Rock 3 has a slightly higher TDP; it goes from 180 to 190 watts. There is one less heat pipe, but the pipes are slightly thicker than with its seven-year older brother. The biggest change seems to be that it now switches to an asymmetrical design, to reduce the chance that the heatsink and fan get in the way of the working memory. The cooler’s included 120mm fan is a Shadow Wings 2 and it should produce 24.5dBA of noise at maximum speed.
Just like the Dark Rock 2 already did, sockets 1151 and AM4 are supported, among others. The Shadow Rock series is positioned between the Pure Rock and Dark Rock. The former can handle thermal design powers of up to 150 watts and the latter goes up to 250 watts tdp.
At the time of the unveiling, be quiet said that the product would be launched in April, but that has now been brought forward. The company then also unveiled the Pure Rock 2, but less is known about it. The be quiet website has not yet been updated with information about that cooler.
