Be quiet has released its first power supplies in the sfx-l format. For the time being, there are two variants, 500W and 600W, which cost 109 and 129 euros respectively. The power supplies are modular and have an 80Plus Gold certification.

The power supplies contain a temperature-controlled 120mm fan with a maximum speed of 1450rpm and capacitors from Japan are used according to the manufacturer. The SFX L Power models are completely modular, which according to be quiet ensures that in a small housing there are no cables in the way that hinder the airflow. The cables have a flat profile which should make it easy to hide them. Four PCI-e connectors are available, so that it is possible to connect multiple GPUs. Be quiet supplies an atx adapter so that the power supplies can also be placed in larger cabinets.

Sfx-l power supplies are slightly longer than the small sfx models and can therefore accommodate a 120mm fan instead of an 80mm model. This generally results in quieter operation. Other manufacturers have had sfx-l power supplies in their range for some time. According to be quiet, the SFX L Power power supplies are not a replacement for the existing SFX Power 2 models, but a high-end alternative. The cheaper SFX Power 2 power supplies have been available for several years in 300W and 400W versions and are 80Plus Bronze certified.

ComputerBase and Hardware.info, among others, have published reviews of the new power supplies.
