The so-called Community Test Environment for Battlefield 1, in which developer DICE can test early versions of changes and additions to the game, is now also available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This test environment has been available for the PC for six months now.

The developer says they want to share the game’s development process with players with the test environment, so that feedback can be obtained earlier about Battlefield 1 updates, new maps and other changes to the game. The developer also wants to improve the stability of new Battlefield 1 updates with the test environment.

Interested parties can sign up for the Community Test Environment through the Battlefield 1 main menu, under the ‘more’ tab. According to Twitter account Battlefield Bulletin takes the installation for the test environment on the PlayStation 4 takes up about 40GB and with the Xbox One there is an additional 2GB. The disk space required by the PlayStation 4 is can also differ per region and go up to 52GB.

For example, Battlefileld 4 already had a Community Test Environment, but to access it, gamers had to have a premium edition of the game and receive an invitation. That invitation condition has been dropped with the Battlefield 1 Community Test Environment; only a Battlefield 1 Premium Pass is required to access the test environment. An Xbox Live Gold subscription or PlayStation Plus subscription is also necessary.

The Community Test Environment has been available for PC since the end of January. Initially, access was only granted to select members of the Battlefield community and “veterans” who have arguably played various Battlefield games. When introducing the test environment for PC gamers, Dice indicated that the intention was to make the test environment available for consoles as soon as possible.
