Battle royale mode Battlefield V is called Firestorm and features 16 teams of 4 players
A new Battlefield V trailer provides more details about the game’s battle royale mode. It’s called Firestorm and it turns out to be a mode in which teams of 4 players compete against each other. There are 16 teams, or 64 players.
Publisher EA and developer DICE talk about the different modes in the game in a video of more than six minutes. This shows that in the battle royale mode, players have to work together in a team of four. There is no mention of a variant where everyone plays for themselves and other compositions of teams also do not seem to be in Firestorm mode.
The video briefly shows footage of Firestorm. It shows a conflagration that gets smaller and smaller, which is the mechanism used to drive the players closer together as the game progresses. In the battle royale mode, vehicles such as tanks are available and the environment can be destroyed.
It was already known that Battlefield V would get a battle royale mode, but details were still missing. At the announcement, the developer said that the mode would be given its own twist. A Battlefield V open beta will begin on Thursday, but Firestorm mode will not be included.
The video also shows more explanation about Tides of War, an online game mode that will be expanded after the game’s release. When the game comes out, the chapter The Fall of Europe, which takes place in 1940, will be available. At the beginning of 2019 the second chapter will come, with the theme of the uprising and the setting is Greece. After that, more chapters follow, which follow the course of the Second World War. All players get access to Tides of War, there is no paid DLC.
EA will release Battlefield V on November 20. That is a month later than planned. Among other things, EA said that the postponement was necessary to further improve the Tides of War mode.
