Battle.net update hints at Warcraft III support
Blizzard is said to have added images of Warcraft III: Frozen Throne to the Battle.net launcher. With that, support for the new Battle.net launcher seems to be coming. Earlier, Blizzard hinted at ports of old Warcraft titles to modern operating systems.
The MMO-Champion website found the references in an update to the Battle.net launcher, Blizzard’s tool for its modern games. It seems that a previous promise from Blizzard is being fulfilled. The company indicated at Blizzcon last year that a team is working on ports of old Blizzard titles to modern operating systems.
While Warcraft III runs on modern operating systems, older titles like the first Warcraft and Starcraft present more compatibility issues. Also, the older versions of the games could be made suitable for the modern version of Battle.net. Warcraft III does have a multiplayer feature, but it’s separate from the rest of Battle.net. Ports of the older titles should also avoid compatibility issues in the near future.
