Baldur's Gate III will receive official mod support in September
Baldur's Gate III will receive a patch in September that brings official mod support to the award-winning RPG. Developer Larian Studios announced this. The mod toolkit will first be available on PC and will be released 'shortly afterwards' for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Mac.
The closed alpha period of the mod toolkit started on June 3, writes Larian Studios on Steam. A small group of mod makers has been invited for this. A closed beta will also take place in July, with approximately 1,000 PC players able to try out the toolkit. The public rollout will follow in September. A concrete release date has not yet been announced.
In addition to official mod support, Larian is working on other features such as a photo mode and crossplay support. These features will be added to the game at a later date. Baldur's Gate was very well received by critics. The game has a Metacritic score of 97. The game also won the Game of the Year award at the Game Awards 2023 and a Bafta award for 'best game'. Larian confirmed earlier that his next game won't be based on the Baldur's Gate franchise.
