Larian Studios released its fifth major patch for the RPG Baldur’s Gate III on Thursday. This patch adds, among other things, a new section at the end of the game. In addition, a new difficulty level and a Custom mode have been added.

The added epilogue takes place six months after the end of Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian reports in the message about patch 5. Players previously complained about the game’s abrupt ending and the lack of a flashback with the characters. Larian says he hopes the epilogue offers players “some well-deserved closure.”

Two new modes have also been added: Honor and Custom. Honor mode contains the highest difficulty level. Battles are more difficult and loading previously saved moments into the game, or save scumming, is also less easy. For example, if the player is not satisfied with the outcome of a skill check, it is not possible to change it by reloading a previous save. In Custom Mode, players can adjust certain gameplay elements, including how strong characters are and enemy aggression.

Baldur’s Gate III was released on August 3 for the PC and was released on September 7 for the PlayStation 5. Larian is still working on an Xbox version. This should be published in December; Larian has promised to announce the release date during The Game Awards. Baldur’s Gate 3 has been nominated eight times for The Game Awards, including for the ‘Game of the Year’ category.
