Back 4 Blood gets offline solo mode via December update
Developer Turtle Rock Studios will release an update for Back 4 Blood in December, which will give the game an offline mode. In it, players can compete with the AI against zombies and progression is saved. That is not the case now.
The offline update is free and is by the developer put on the roadmap for Dec. A release date has not yet been announced. First, an update will be released in November with quality of life improvements and major bug fixes. In addition to the solo mode, the December update also adds new features, including new maps and a new map type.
Next year there will be another free update with a new difficulty setting, new maps, a revamped co-op mode and more improvements. There will also be three paid expansions. The first of these will be titled Tunnels of Terror
Back 4 Blood already has a solo mode, but that requires players to be online, and playing alone won’t save any progress that counts towards supplying points and achievements. Statistics can also not be viewed. Last month, the developers said they were looking at a solution, in response to criticism from players.
The game was released on October 12 for PC, Xbox and PlayStation consoles, and via Microsoft’s Game Pass subscription. The studio behind Back 4 Blood was founded by the creators who worked on Left 4 Dead and then joined Valve. Like the Left 4 Dead games, the new game is a co-op zombie shooter, but there are differences. For example, Back 4 Blood works with a card system; with that, players and the enemies get certain bonuses.
