Back 4 Blood beta had nearly 100,000 concurrent players on Steam
The beta of co-op zombie shooter Back 4 Blood was one of the most popular games on Steam last weekend. The game is still in closed beta. Gamers who preordered were given access and the developer gave away codes.
The Back 4 Blood beta peaked at 98,024 concurrent players, SteamDB figures show. With that, the title reached the tenth place of most played games on Steam over the past weekend. The first beta ends Monday evening at 9 p.m.
Players who pre-ordered the game were given access to the closed beta. Also, the developer provided codes for players to participate. It is unknown how many people pre-ordered and how many people entered with a free code.
An open beta of Back 4 Blood will start on August 12 and will run until August 16. The betas are also available on Xbox and PlayStation consoles and via the Epic Games Store, but no player statistics are known. The final release of the game is scheduled for October 12, for PC and consoles. The Xbox version is part of the Game Pass subscription immediately upon release.
Back 4 Blood is made by Turtle Rock Studios, the developer behind Left 4 Dead. Both games are co-op shooters in which four players compete against zombies together. The new game works with a card system and a Game Director that changes the environment and enemies every game.
