Aya Neo starts shipping Windows handheld with Ryzen 5 CPU
Chinese manufacturer Aya Neo has started delivering its Windows gaming handheld with Ryzen 5 CPU to backers through its first crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo. Delivery was delayed several times. Production of the successor Aya Neo 2021 Pro will start in October.
The manufacturer has announced this on the crowdfunding page on Indiegogo. The handheld, which features a Ryzen 5 4500U with Vega 6, 16GB Lpddr4x-4266 memory, 512GB or 1TB NVMe SSD, and a 7-inch IPS screen, was funded entirely through Indiegogo. But due to planning errors around the production of a button and disappointing production speed, backers had to wait longer than expected for their console. According to Aya Neo, the handheld has now shipped to all backers.
As compensation, they receive a $65 voucher to spend in the store. This allows them to buy accessories, such as cases. Backers who bought the Retro Power kit with their Aya Neo get a free retro case with their handheld. White versions of the handhelds are now also for sale in Aya Neo’s webshop and will ship from October 8th.
The company is also starting production of the successor to the Aya Neo 2021, the Aya Neo 2021 Pro, which is equipped with a Ryzen 7 CPU. Production starts October 8. The company says it will take ten days for the first batch to be ready and it expects that if all goes well, it will start shipping this newer version October 20. This version was announced in August and features a faster processor, faster GPU and more storage space. The 2021 Aya Neo 2021 Pro costs $200 more than the 1TB version of the 2021 Aya Neo, which is $1,215 excluding taxes.
At the same time as shipping the Aya Neo 2021, the company has announced the beta version of its game launcher Aya Space. Aya Space is a place where users can manage their games and log in for additional services in the future. Aya Space supports management of games from Steam, Xbox, Epic, GOG, EA Play and Wegame.
