Aya Neo Next handheld will get an AMD Ryzen 7 5825U, Ryzen 6000 model will follow later
Aya Neo announces that his Next gaming handheld will have an AMD Ryzen 7 5825U apu. Earlier, the company announced that the handheld would get a Ryzen 7 5800U. Aya Neo also reports that it plans to release a handheld with AMD Ryzen 6000 chip at the end of this year.
Aya Neo is announcing the change in a blog post, VideoCardz noted. The company states that the chip was still under embargo during the presentation of the Next handheld and that the company therefore chose to name the Ryzen 7 5800U in its announcement. The company is said to have heard “halfway through the conference” that it could call the AMD Ryzen 5825U anyway, but Aya Neo said it didn’t have enough time to adapt all promotional materials with the new specifications. The changes have since been made on the Aya Neo Next product page, although a variant with Ryzen 7 5800U is still mentioned.
AMD announced the Ryzen 7 5825U last week at CES. It is a new version of the existing Ryzen 5000 laptop APUs based on Zen 3. The new version has a base clock speed of 2.0GHz, compared to 1.9GHz in the existing Ryzen 7 5800U. The boost clock is also slightly higher than before at 4.5GHz. The GPU clock speed of 2.0GHz remains unchanged.

Aya Neo handheld with Ryzen 6000 apu and RDNA2 GPU coming later this year
Aya Neo also says that the company hopes to introduce a new handheld later this year, which will have an AMD Ryzen 6000 apu. Those chips were also announced last week. The Ryzen 6000 APUs feature a Zen 3+ architecture, are produced on TSMC’s 6nm process, and feature an integrated RDNA2 GPU for the first time, which would be significantly faster than the Vega GPU in AMD’s existing APUs.
The manufacturer said it wants to offer customers a handheld with a Ryzen 6000 chip “as soon as possible”, but that this will “probably” happen by the end of the year. “At this stage, as a small manufacturer, it’s hard to get Ryzen 6000 chips,” Aya Neo wrote in the blog post. More concrete details about the new Ryzen 6000 handheld are not yet known.
