AVM has released the FritzRepeater 6000, a triband mesh WiFi repeater with twelve antennas that is suitable for Wi-Fi 6. The repeater offers WiFi speeds of up to 6 Gbit/s and is equipped with ‘Intelligent Mesh WiFi’ for TVs and consoles. The suggested retail price is 219 euros.

The FritzRepeater 6000 is the latest model from AVM and the successor to the FritzRepeater 3000 from 2019. The new model has twelve antennas and three radio transmitters, two at 5GHz and one at 2.4GHz. AVM thus promises 2400Mbit/s per transmitting unit on the 5GHz band and up to 1200Mbit/s on the 2.4GHz band. With this, AVM says it can achieve Wi-Fi speeds of up to 6Gbit/s with support for Wi-Fi 6 and older Wi-Fi standards. One of those 5GHz bands has been cleared for a direct connection to a FritzBox router.

According to the manufacturer, the repeater is mainly suitable for simultaneously running different streaming and gaming applications, partly because of what the manufacturer calls ‘intelligent mesh technology’. This technology would include a combination of Wi-Fi steering, mesh, automatic channel selection and crossband repeating, so that devices connect to the optimal wireless access point. The repeater also supports WPA3. AVM promises to provide the repeater with regular updates to the operating system and users have a five-year warranty. The FritzRepeater 6000 has a suggested retail price of 219 euros.
