AVM introduces FritzRepeater 3000 for users with many WiFi devices
AVM has released the FritzRepeater 3000. According to the manufacturer, the new mesh wifi speaker is very suitable for users who want to integrate “a very large number of devices” in the wireless home network. The device will be priced at 129 euros.
The FritzRepeater 3000 is a triband repeater that, according to AVM, provides a greater range and high data throughput. The device communicates with the wireless router over the additional 5GHz band. Due to this method of data distribution, the 2.4 GHz and other 5 GHz frequencies remain free for communication with end devices. The device achieves a maximum theoretical speed of 400Mbit/s on 2.4GHz (2×2), 866Mbit/s on 5GHz (2×2) and 1733Mbit/s on 5GHz (4×4).
Functions such as band steering, AP steering (11v, 11k) and crossband repeating ensure that all devices are optimally equipped with WiFi, according to manufacturer AVM. The FritzRepeater 3000, packaged in a new vertical housing, also offers two gigabit LAN ports. The device is also said to be more energy efficient than its predecessors, both during use and in standby mode.
To simplify the configuration, the repeater automatically takes over all the settings of the FritzBox router, such as the network name, password, night mode, guest network settings and automatic updates. The suggested retail price of the device is 129 euros.
