AVM releases the FritzRepeater 3000 AX, a dual-band mesh WiFi repeater that should probably act as a direct successor to the FritzRepeater 3000 in the sense that the new one supports Wi-Fi 6, among other things. The top model will remain the FritzRepeater 6000.

AVM says that the repeater equipped with eight antennas achieves a maximum bandwidth of 4200Mbit/s. The Fritz Repeater 3000 AX still does not support the 6 GHz band and has yet to make do with 2.4 and 5 GHz. The device has three radio transmitters that can be used in parallel: two for 5GHz at a maximum of 2400Mbit/s and 1200Mbit/s respectively and one at 2.4GHz with 600Mbit/s.

These speeds are somewhat higher than those of the FritzRepeater 3000. With that device the speeds are 1733Mbit/s and 866Mbit/s at 5GHz and 400Mbit/s at 2.4GHz. The speeds of the FritzRepeater 6000, on the other hand, are the highest with twice 2400Mbit/s on 5GHz and 1200Mbit/s on 2.4GHz.

A connection between the FritzRepeater 3000 AX and the existing router can be wireless or wired via two Ethernet ports up to 1000 Mbit/s. The FritzRepeater 6000 also has a 2.5GbE connection. There seems to be no support for Power over Ethernet.

The FritzRepeater 3000 AX measures 9×19×14.5cm and is already available. The device has a suggested retail price of 189 euros.
