Later this month, on August 27 to be precise, the long-awaited World of Warcraft: Classic becomes available. The first announcement was made during Blizzcon 2017 after which it was silent for a long time, but in recent months the game has been extensively tested by a large number of players & streamers. There will be 1 final, worldwide stress test, which would initially take place on July 25. For unknown reasons it was postponed, but now Blizzard has everything in order.
The worldwide pre-launch test, as it is now called, will start on Thursday, August 8, at 11:00 AM PDT. The test will end one day later and is available to anyone with an active World of Warcraft subscription or playing time, in all regions.
Stress test
To be able to test really well, there is a request from Blizzard to all players to at least log in on 8 August between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. This is especially important because they will then actively check for issues that are important for the launch. History of earlier launches tells us that the servers, the often huge peak interest, do not always attract.
How to test?
WoW Classic is already available for everyone to download from the Battle.net Desktop App. After downloading and installing, open the Blizzard Desktop App and select World of Warcraft in the menu on the left. You will then see a dropdown menu, select World of Warcraft Classic. Then click on the button to install, wait until the installation is complete and you can get started.
Good to know is that Blizzard has managed to keep the minimum system requirements as low as possible. A lot lower than what is currently required to play Battle for Azeroth.
