AU Optronics wants to open LCD factory in China

Taiwanese manufacturer AU Optronics wants to open a factory in China. The third largest LCD manufacturer in the world has requested permission from the Taiwanese government. The manufacturer thinks that a total of 3 billion dollars is needed.

AU Optronics say with the new factory in Kunshan to better serve its customers. However, due to government regulation, the manufacturer’s intention must be approved by the Core Technology Committee of the Investment Commission of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan.

The manufacturer states that it will not put its investments in Taiwan on the back burner. For example, the company expects to start using the new equipment for its second G8.5 production line in the Taichung Science Park by the end of this year.
