Attackers Cracking Epic Games Forums

Malicious persons have invaded the databases of the Epic Games forums. The studio will announce this in a message to all registered members of the forums. The attackers may have stolen usernames, email addresses, passwords and birth dates.

These are the forums for UDK, Infinity Blade, Gears of War, Bulletstorm and almost all Unreal Tournament games. The forums for Unreal Engine 4, Fortnite and the new Unreal Tournament have not been invaded, because they are on separate sites.

Epic Games has reset the passwords for all accounts and urges users that if they use the same password elsewhere, they should change it as soon as possible. Until the American developer has been able to fully investigate the matter, the forum is offline. For that investigation, the studio engaged an external security company. In the course of the investigation, Epic Games hopes to find out whether the user data has really been stolen, a scenario that the company is taking into account.
