Atlus asks fans via survey what the next Persona game should look like
Atlus has posted an extensive survey online asking fans what they expect from the new Persona game. It asks, among other things, what genre it should be and on which platforms the game should appear.
The survey is entirely in Japanese and asks questions about the platforms fans use and what kind of experiences they expect on those platforms. One of the questions is striking, however, because Atlus wants to find out what users think about a number of options for the next game in the Persona franchise.
Possible answers include a shooter game, an all-new Persona 6, board game, strategy game, fighting game, online RPG, or action RPG. This suggests Atlus is considering multiple options to create a new spin-off of the series.
Another question is which platforms fans want to see the next part of Etrian Odyssey, Shin Megami Tensei and Persona on. You can choose from the PlayStation 4, PlayStation VR, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo Switch, smartphone or PC.
The questionnaire suggests Atlus is considering how it plans to tackle the next Persona game. Persona 5 was released in Europe last year, the first all-new game in the Persona series since Persona 4 came out in 2009. In the meantime, a number of spin-offs have been released, such as some rhythm games and fighting games.
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona is a JRPG series that combines the daily life of a Japanese schoolboy with a dungeon crawler. In an alternate world, the player must defeat so-called shadows, which are a representation of the dark side of people in the real world. He is helped by some friends, who become stronger by maintaining the friendship in the real world.
