ATL announces new battery that charges in 34 minutes
The Chinese manufacturer ATL has presented a battery for smartphones with a capacity of 3000mAh that can charge within 34 minutes. It will probably charge less quickly once the copy is in smartphones.
The battery of the Chinese supplier Amperex, which supplies to Samsung, among others, is approximately 80 percent charged within fifteen minutes, according to graphs published by MyDrivers. The results come from lab tests, but for safety reasons, batteries in smartphones will reach that percentage after about 25 minutes.
The charger can charge the battery with 40W, while current smartphones usually charge with a maximum of 18W. Qualcomm claims with QuickCharge 3.0 that it can charge a 2750mAh battery to 80 percent in 35 minutes, so Amperex’s technology would be faster than that.
The battery should last five hundred full-power charges with rapid charging, while after seven hundred charges, the battery should still be at 80 percent of its original capacity. The technology could appear in smartphones next year, but it is still unknown if there are any manufacturers that will support it.
