Atari Working On Pong Quest With Dungeon Crawler Elements
Atari comes with a new version of Pong, which combines the classic gameplay with elements from dungeon crawlers. The publisher describes the game as a “hilarious new variant” of the arcade classic.
Pong Quest features several dungeons that Atari says are loosely based on other titles from the publisher, such as Asteroids and Centipide. Monsters must be defeated through Pong battles. Atari promises fifty variants of the game with ‘renewed depth and strategy’. The game features a single player campaign and multiplayer for up to four players.
Atari will release Pong Quest in the spring for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The cost of the game has not yet been announced. It’s been nearly half a century since the original Pong appeared. Atari first released that game in November 1972.
Earlier this week, Atari released the free-to-play Missile Command: Recharged for smartphones. That too is an updated version of an arcade classic.
