Asus ZenBook Flip 15 convertible gets GeForce GTX 1050 video card

Asus has announced new ZenBook Flip convertibles, including a 15.6″ version with a GeForce GTX 1050 Max-Q GPU. There will also be a 13.3″ variant, but it will have to make do with an Intel igpu. Both models have thin screen bezels.

The ZenBook Flip 13 and 15 are thin laptops with a hinge that flips the screen 360 degrees, so they can also be used as a tablet. The new models have the back numbers UX362 and UX562 and compared to their predecessors it is noticeable that the screen edges are a lot thinner. The bezels are 3.5mm wide on the 13.3″ version and 4.5mm on the 15.6″ version, according to Asus.

The small model has a screen with a full-HD resolution, the large version can also be supplied with a 4k screen. In all cases, it concerns touchscreens. The screens have a built-in infrared camera for Windows Hello login.

Asus equips the ZenBook Flip models with the new Intel Whiskey Lake processors. There will be variants with the Core i5-8265U and with the Core i7-8565U. The Flip 13 is equipped with 8GB or 16GB lpddr3, the Flip 15 gets 16GB ddr4. The memory is soldered to the motherboard on all models. Storage is in the form of a PCI-e or SATA SSD, with a maximum of 512GB. The ZenBook Flip 15 can also be equipped with a HDD of up to 2TB, but then a smaller battery with a lower capacity is mounted.

The video card in the ZenBook Flip 15 gets a major upgrade. In the new model, that is the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Max-Q with 2GB of vram. In the current UX560UQ version, that’s a much slower GeForce 940MX. Asus has not yet announced when the ZenBook Flip 13 and 15 will be released and what the suggested retail prices are.
