Asus working on 14-inch laptop with Kaby Lake processor and thin bezels
Judging by two product pages, Asus is working on a new model ZenBook with a 14″ screen and a 6 millimeter thin bezel. According to the page, which is clearly not yet completely finished, the laptop is equipped with processors ranging from the Core i3 to the Core i7 of the Kaby Lake generation.
The Asus Zenbook UX410UA and UX410UQ, discovered by Notebook Italia, are made of brushed aluminum and are a total of 18.95 millimeters thick and 1.6 kilograms in weight. It is striking that Asus speaks of a 13.3 “full HD screen on one point and a 14 “screen on the other. The photos also show that some copies have a clearly thicker bezel than others on the same page.
The two variants are equipped with an Intel Core i3, i5 or i7. Some are from the Kaby Lake generation and others are from the Skylake generation. Still others are not given further indication at this time. Furthermore, the laptops seem to have 4 or 8GB DDR4-2133 memory and this is expandable up to 16GB. Storage is handled by an HDD with a capacity of 500GB to 1TB and an m.2 SSD with a capacity of 128GB to 512GB. The main difference between the A and Q variant seems to be the presence of an Nvidia GeForce GTX 940M.
Furthermore, the keyboard is backlit, there is support for ac-wifi, hdmi output, there is a usb-type-c port and a usb 3.0 port. Users can choose from the colors quartz gray or rose gold. The battery is described as a 3-cell 48Whr battery. The built-in webcam sits at the top of the bezel, unlike the very similar Dell XPS 13, where it sits at the bottom left, hindering its use. The bezels of the XPS 13 are, at 5.2 mm, a fraction thinner than with this Asus laptop. Prices and availability are not yet known. In any case, the previous generation Zenbook, the UX310, ranges in price from about 700 to about 1000 euros.
