Asus updates ZenBook UX305 models with Skylake socs

Asus gives its ZenBook UX305 series an update. Four new models of the 12.3mm thin 13.3″ laptop appear, three of which are equipped with the Intel Core M3-6Y30 of the Skylake generation. There is also a new model with a Broadwell Core i7-5500U CPU .

The entry-level model, the ZenBook UX305CA, appears in three variants. All are equipped with the Intel Core M3-6Y30, a dual-core with support for HyperThreading, which runs at a maximum speed of 2.2GHz. Compared to the Core M-5Y10, which was in the previous ZenBooks, the new Intel chip has a faster built-in GPU, which also offers support for controlling a 4k monitor via HDMI. Asus equips the UX305CA as standard with 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD, but there will also be an 8GB variant in limited edition.

The top model of the new generation, the ZenBook UX305LA, will be equipped with an Intel Core i7-5500U of the Broadwell generation. This is also a dual core with four threads, but the maximum clock speed is 3GHz. The Intel Graphics 5500 GPU of the processor is also a lot more powerful than the Intel HD 515 of the Core M. Asus already had Zenbook UX305LA models with this processor in its range, but they were equipped with more RAM and SSD storage, and therefore also more expensive.

All ZenBook UX305 models have a matte IPS screen with at least a full HD resolution. The battery life is eight to eleven hours, depending on the configuration according to Asus. All models are equipped with Windows 10. The new ZenBooks are now available not only in black, but also in gold. The ZenBook UX305CA will be in stores at the beginning of November. The UX305LA is available immediately.
