Asus to release ‘Windows with Bing’ laptop for 219 euros in mid-December

Asus will bring a laptop on the market in mid-December with a suggested retail price of 219 euros. The EeeBook F205 has a diagonal screen of 11.6 inches with a resolution of 1366×768 pixels. The model includes an Atom quad-core processor.

The laptop is equipped with the Intel Atom Z3735F quad-core in combination with 2GB of RAM. The device runs Windows 8.1 with Bing and the user also has the Office 365 package for a year at no additional cost. 32GB of emmc memory is supplied for storage, but the storage amount can be expanded with a micro-SD card. Asus also provides 500GB of storage space via its own cloud storage service and Microsoft adds a significant amount with 1TB of OneDrive storage space.

The F205 has an 11.6″ screen with a resolution of 1366×768 pixels. Asus claims that the device with a battery of 38Wh can function independently for about twelve hours, but it is not known in which scenario this was measured. The notebook weighs 980 grams and also has two USB 2.0 ports and an HDMI port.The network card is a dual-band variant with support for WiFi-n and Bluetooth 4.0.

Asus reports that the device will be available in the Benelux from mid-December. The F205 has a suggested retail price of 219 euros and is available in two versions, namely in white and in dark blue. With Windows with Bing, Microsoft is trying to compete with Google’s Chromebooks, search engine and storage service. The laptops are cheap but also have little storage space, with online storage serving as an alternative. Windows 8.1 with Bing requires manufacturers to set Microsoft’s search engine as the default.
