ASUS shows ROG Strix Scope II 96 keyboard with proprietary ROG NX Snow switches
ASUS introduces its ROG Strix Scope II 96 Wireless keyboard at Computex. This mechanical keyboard has a 96% design with numpad, interchangeable switches and a 2.4GHz or Bluetooth connection for wireless use. ASUS does not mention a suggested retail price.
The ROG Strix Scope II 96 Wireless is the first keyboard in which ASUS uses its own ROG NX Snow switches. These linear switches are pre-lubed with Krytox 205. The switches have an actuation force of 40 grams. The total key travel is 3.6mm and the actuation point is 1.8mm.
ASUS also provides the keyboard with its own stabilizers, which are also pre-lubed. Behind the PCB there is damping foam that should limit noise. The keyboard switches are also hot-swappable. The ROG Strix Scope II is therefore compatible with switches from other manufacturers. The keyboard will be available with PBT or ABS keycaps.
The ROG Strix Scope II 96 has, among other things, a volume wheel and software macros. The keyboard can be used wirelessly via a 2.4GHz connection or with Bluetooth. The mechanical keyboard can also be used wired via a USB connection, which also serves as a charging port. According to ASUS, the Strix Scope II 96 has a battery life of around 90 hours with RGB LEDs enabled. Without lighting this should increase to 1500 hours via 2.4GHz. ASUS supplies the keyboard with a ROG OMNI receiver, which can be used to connect various supported devices.
It is not known exactly when the ROG Strix Scope II 96 Wireless will be available. According to the company, this will happen in the summer. ASUS does not yet mention a suggested retail price and release date. Earlier this year, ASUS introduced an Azoth gaming keyboard with interchangeable switches and a small OLED screen. That keyboard is listed in the Pricewatch for 299 euros.
