Asus shows curved 49″ monitor with 144Hz refresh rate and HDR support
Asus comes with a curved 49″ monitor for gamers with a 32:9 ratio, HDR display and a refresh rate of 144Hz. The ROG Strix XG49VQ also has FreeSync 2 HDR. When the screen comes out and at what price is not yet known.
The XG49VQ uses a 49″ panel with a resolution of 3840×1080 pixels. Samsung, among others, previously launched such a screen. Asus also announced a 49″ monitor in June, but that model does not have HDR support. . The new ROG Strix model gets DisplayHDR 400 certification. This means that the maximum brightness is 400cd/m2. According to Asus, the panel can display 125 percent of the sRGB color space.
The monitor has a curved panel, with a curvature of 1800R. That is equal to the curvature of a circle with a radius of 1.8 meters. Asus gives the screen its Shadow Boost functionality, with which dark parts of games can be made lighter, without bright parts becoming overexposed. When Asus will release the XG49VQ and what the screen will cost has not yet been announced.
