Asus shows all-in-ones with fast hardware
Asus held its traditional press conference in front of a home crowd on the eve of Computex. The first product in the new lineup from the Taiwanese company is an all-in-one with next-gen hardware.
The Asus Zen AiO comes in two variants, the Z220IC and Z240IC, with unspecified exact specifications. It is still unclear which processors are exactly on board, but Asus’ CEO Johny Shih showed specifications with DDR4-2133 memory. That makes it plausible that the Core i7 processor that was mentioned comes from the upcoming batch of Skylake processors. A processor from the Haswell E-series, which is already available, seems less likely for use in an AiO, given the higher tdp.
The Zen all-in-ones come with up to 32GB of DDR4 memory and a Geforce GTX 960M mobile video card. The storage is provided by a PCIe 3.0 SSD with M.2 x4 connection, which could achieve up to 4000MB/s read speed. Peripherals can be connected with the brand new USB 3.1 type-c connector with reversible plugs. In addition to classic interfaces such as mouse and keyboard, the interaction can be done via gestures thanks to an Intel RealSense camera or via voice control with Microsoft’s Cortana.
Prices and availability are not yet known, but if the Zen-AiOs do indeed get Skylake processors, it will have to wait a few months.
