Asus releases ROG Strix Scope mechanical keyboard in early May
Asus will make its new keyboard in the Strix line, the Asus ROG Strix Scope, available in early May. The keyboard, which is equipped with Cherry MX keys with RGB lighting, will be available in stores next month with a suggested retail price of 160 euros.
The new member of the Strix line, the Strix Scope is equipped with wasd keys in silver that can be exchanged for the supplied black variants. In addition, there is a control key that is twice as wide as on normal keyboards. The F12 key also functions as a ‘Stealth’ button, which mutes all applications and minimizes open programs. In the words of Asus, this is especially useful ‘when the phone rings unexpectedly or someone suddenly comes in’. The keyboard can be used with all known Cherry MX mechanical switches, including the Silent Red or Silver Speed switches.
The Strix Scope features an aluminum surface at the keys. The keyboard uses Armory II, Asus’ program that allows users to create profiles per game or gameplay style. The backlighting of the keys works via Asus’ own Aura application. Up to six lighting profiles can be stored locally in Aura. The Strix Scope has to compete with another keyboard in the Strix line, the Strix Flare, which is currently available for around 170 euros at online stores.
The Strix Scope was announced earlier this year during CES but under the name Strix CTRL.
