Asus releases ROG Strix PCs with processors from AMD or Intel
Asus has unveiled four new desktop PCs for gamers. The GA35 and GT35 will be high-end PCs with an AMD or Intel CPU, respectively. The GA15 and GT15 will be cheaper models. The AMD models will be released in the first quarter, the Intel variants later.
The ROG Strix GA35 and GT35 are the high-end models that Asus is introducing. The GA35 will ship with up to a Ryzen 9 3950X, while the GT35 will feature “future 10th-generation Intel Core processors.” Both variants come with Nvidia RTX video cards. Asus also supplies a maximum of 64GB of DDR4-3200 memory and a maximum of 1TB m2-ssd. This can be supplemented with a 1TB or 2TB HDD.
In the AMD version, Asus presumably supplies a Strix X570-F Gaming motherboard. This means that the desktop has a Gigabit LAN connection, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 connections, and four USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports with transfer speeds of up to 5 Gbit/s. The motherboard also contains an HDMI connector and displayport connection, but these cannot be used, as the desktop does not come with an APU with integrated video card. Asus also mentions support for bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 5 through an 802.11ac modem, but these are not natively supported on the X570-F. Asus may also supply an expansion card.
The manufacturer also supplies a power supply of 500W or 700W, depending on the chosen configuration. The images shown also show a 240mm AIO water cooler. Asus also supplies a keyboard and mouse. Asus does not yet give specifications of the GT35 desktop with Intel CPU, as the tenth-generation Core processors have not yet been announced. The company has not yet mentioned suggested retail prices. The AMD model will be released in the first quarter of 2020. The GT35 desktop with Intel CPU will follow later this year.
The ROG Strix GA15 and GT15 are somewhat cheaper desktop PCs. The GA15 comes with up to a Ryzen 7 3800X and an RTX 2070 Super GPU, but users can also opt for a Ryzen 5 3600X and a GTX 1650 GPU with 4GB of memory. The company provides up to 32GB of DDR4 memory at 3200MHz. As far as storage is concerned, the company provides a maximum of a 1TB NVME SSD, whether or not in combination with a 1TB or 2TB HDD.
The GA15 comes with a B450 motherboard from Asus, but the company doesn’t list an exact model. The images show that it is a motherboard with micro-ATx format. The motherboard has two USB 3.1 Gen 1 connections with speeds up to 5Gbit/s, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, an RJ-45 Ethernet connection, three audio ports, a DVI-D and D-Sub connection and two ps/2 connectors for a keyboard and mouse. Based on these connections, Asus probably uses the Prime B450M-A. The PC also supports Bluetooth 5.1 and WiFi AC.
The GA15 also comes with a keyboard and mouse. Asus does not yet know anything about the specifications of the GT15 with Intel CPU. The GA15 will be released in the first quarter of 2020, the GT15 will follow later. Asus has not yet announced suggested retail prices.
