Asus releases G-sync upgrade kit for VG248QE monitor

Owners of an Asus VG248QE monitor can order an upgrade kit from the manufacturer with which the display can be equipped with Nvidia’s G-sync technology. This would give PC gamers in particular smoother images.

Nvidia announced G-Sync in mid-October. Monitors with this technology would put an end to tearing and lagging in 3D games. Asus could provide the technology exclusively in its monitors for some time. Later this year, other manufacturers may also use Nvidia’s G-sync technology.

In addition to new monitors, Asus has released an upgrade kit for the VG248QE monitor. This monitor has a refresh rate of 144Hz. In order to install the upgrade kit, consisting of a printed circuit board and a number of headers, the user must unscrew the monitor. An instructional video is available for this. Asus has a suggested retail price of $199 for the G-sync upgrade kit.
