Asus may release a monitor with a 280Hz refresh rate. The TUF Gaming VG279QM monitor has appeared in a webshop, although it is not clear whether that is the native refresh rate or the theoretical maximum.

The monitor was first spotted on Taobao’s Taiwanese website. There it says that the monitor has an HDR400 panel with a refresh rate of 280 Hertz at a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The screen is said to be 27″ in size. Other specs include a gray-to-gray response time of 1ms and a static contrast ratio of 1000:1. The VG279QM has support for both G-Sync and Adaptive Sync, according to the Taobao listing. Displayport 1.2 and two HDMI 2.0 connections.

The monitor hasn’t been officially announced yet, and Asus hasn’t said anything about it yet. The price is also still unknown. Taobao states that the monitor should cost 3199 Chinese yuan. That is converted about 410 euros. It is also unknown what the minimum system requirements should be to run the monitor, or whether the 280Hz is the default refresh or if that is only possible with overclocking.

Update: as a result of Indodraken’s topic on GoT, the price has been adjusted from Taiwanese dollars to Chinese yuan.
