Asus may come with a Chromebook that is equipped with a Rockchip quadcore. One ad speaks of the ‘cheapest Chromebook yet’. It would be a variant of the C200 Chromebook from Asus.

The Asus Chromebook C201 is featured in a brochure of an American company that specializes in education technology. No price is stated to substantiate the claim of ‘cheapest’. Present is the Rockchip RK3288-C: a quad-core based on ARM’s Cortex-A17 cores with a clock speed of 1.8GHz. The current Asus C200 Chromebook has a Celeron N2830 dual core. The suggested retail price of that model is 279 euros and the upcoming C201 will probably be cheaper than that laptop.

Furthermore, the C201 would have a battery life of ten hours. The storage size of the emmc memory is 16GB. The resolution of the 11.6 “screen would be 1366×768 pixels and there would be 2GB DDR3 memory, although a 4GB variant is also reported. That variant has been online for some time and would have 32GB storage memory and a contain touchscreen.

Rockchip indicated last summer that it was already testing Chromebooks with its RK3288 chip. At the end of 2014, reports appeared that Asus and Lenovo would use this, where a price of 145 euros was mentioned.
