Asus launches VivoWatch sports watch with 10 days of battery life – update
Asus has made an advance announcement in Italy of a smart sports watch, which would have a battery life of 10 days. The VivoWatch wearable would be particularly suitable for fitness and other health applications.
In addition to the 10-day battery life, the VivoWatch HC-A01 is resistant to water and dust, which means that it can carry the IP67 rating. According to Asus, you can therefore wear the wearable in the shower. Furthermore, the smartwatch has a stainless steel housing and can monitor the heart rhythm and the sleep and wake rhythm of the user.
The VivoWatch works in conjunction with an Asus HiVivo app on smartphones and the manufacturer’s Healthcare site. Asus has not yet announced further details in the pre-announcement. The manufacturer will introduce the wearable at its Zensation event at Milan Design Week starting Tuesday. The watch appears to have an electronic ink screen, which may explain the long battery life. There is a strip under the screen that can light up green.
It is the second smartwatch from Asus: the ZenWatch that the company announced earlier will be released in the Benelux at the end of this month. Asus previously talked about the arrival of a new wearable that would not be based on Android Wear and would have a long battery life.
Update, 19.43: According to the Italian HDBlog, the wearable will cost 149 euros.
