Asus introduces thin gaming laptops with GTX 950M and 960M
Asus will release two new gaming laptops next month with the new GTX 950M and 960M GPUs. The top model, the G501, includes a 15.6 “UHD screen, a Core i7 quad-core processor and 4GB GDDR5 ram. The model will cost $1,999, or 1,900 euros.
The device also comes with a 512GB SSD on board. The housing is made of brushed metal with red accents and weighs two kilograms, the manufacturer announced on Friday.
Windows 8.1 comes preinstalled on the G501. The laptop is also equipped with three USB 3.0 ports and a Thunderbolt connection. For cooling, Asus uses its own cooling system with two fans for extra-thin laptops, a technique called Asus Hyper Cool Technology.
The other new laptop on the gaming boom is the GL552. With a GTX 950M GPU on board that is clocked slightly lower than the 960M. The 15.6″ UHD-IPS screen has a matte coating. Furthermore, Asus has upgraded the new devices to the older GL551 laptop to the GTX 960M GPU.
