The Republic of Gamers Rampage II Gene, as the motherboard is called in full, its P45 chipset can handle Intel’s Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad processors. The board features two PCI-e x16 slots and offers CrossFireX support. There are four memory slots, in which up to 16GB DDR2 memory with a maximum speed of 1300MHz can be inserted. Up to eight SATA devices can be connected to the motherboard, one of which can be connected via e-SATA. There are also twelve USB ports, two Firewire ports and an optical S/PDIF port.
There is a button on the back of the motherboard that resets the bios. There is also an on/off button and a reset button on the motherboard, and a fourth button is used to enter memory settings. Asus also supplies an LCD screen on which debug information can be displayed. Sound is provided by a SupremeFX X-Fi chip, with 4.0 HD EAX support.
