ASUS introduces B760 motherboard with rear connections

ASUS introduces its TUF GAMING B760M-BTF motherboard. This motherboard has an LGA1700 socket for Intel CPUs and has almost all connections, for example for power and SATA drives, at the back. ASUS does not share suggested retail price.

ASUS provides the TUF GAMING B760M-BTF of a micro-ATX form factor and an Intel B760 chipset, making it suitable for Alder Lake and Raptor Lake processors. This is the first motherboard in the new BTF series from ASUS. BTF stands for ‘Back To the Future’ and means that almost all connections have been moved to the back of the motherboard.

The back of the motherboard contains, among other things, the 8-pin connection for power to the CPU, the 24-pin ATX connection, SATA connections, one of the M.2 SSD slots and headers for audio, USB, RGB LEDs and fans. At the front there are two M.2 slots, two PCIe x16 slots, the LGA1700 socket and four dimm slots for DDR4 memory.

Moving these connections to the back of the motherboard should make cables less visible in users’ systems. Users must have a housing that has the necessary holes so that the cables can be connected behind the motherboard.

ASUS’s BTF concept is not unique; several manufacturers previously came up with similar projects. Gigabyte previously showed off its Project Stealth series and released it as a barebones version. MSI also showed earlier a Project Zero concept motherboard. The BTF motherboard from ASUS is the first system that will be available for purchase by consumers who want to build their own PC.
