ASUS is releasing a GeForce RTX 3080 Noctua Edition together with cooler manufacturer Noctua. The two companies previously released an RTX 3070 Noctua Edition. The new model has a similar, large cooler, which should keep the GPU cool and quiet.

According to Noctua, the RTX 3070 Noctua Edition has been very positively received and has therefore decided to collaborate with ASUS again and also release an RTX 3080 variant. That is ‘a completely different beast to tame’, because of the GPU that can produce up to 340W of heat, says Noctua CEO Roland Mossig.

Like the RTX 3070 variant, the RTX 3080 Noctua Edition two NF-A12x25 fans from Noctua. Furthermore, the video card is equipped with a custom-made, extra large heatsink. As a result, the cooler takes up four expansion slots.

Noctua compares the RTX 3080 Noctua Edition in its own benchmarks with an ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3080 and concludes that the GPU of the Noctua variant is three degrees cooler with automatic fan settings. The vram temperature is also fourteen degrees lower and the Noctua variant is 4.5dB(A) quieter in these circumstances.

The ASUS GeForce RTX 3080 Noctua Edition is a 10GB variant. According to Noctua, the video card is for sale from June, but the manufacturer does not yet mention a suggested retail price. The previously released RTX 3070 Noctua Edition costs around 830 euros at the time of writing.

Update, Tuesday: ASUS reports that the video card will have a suggested retail price of 1133 euros.
