Asus comes with 21.6″-4k OLED monitor

Asus has announced the ProArt PQ22UC, a 21.6″ OLED monitor with a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels. According to Asus, the screen is intended as a portable monitor; it weighs about one kilogram. There is no battery in the screen.

The ProArt PQ22UC OLED screen can display HDR10 images, but Asus does not mention the peak brightness of the monitor. The screen has a pixel density of 204 pixels per inch and offers a 10bit display. According to Asus, the monitor can display 99 percent of the dci-p3 color space and is delivered calibrated. It has not been disclosed which manufacturer supplies the OLED panel. It may be the printed 21.6″ panel that the Japanese consortium Joled has recently released.

The screen can process video signals via USB-C or micro-HDMI. The display comes with a monitor stand that can be easily detached and fits into an included carrying case, along with the power adapter. Asus markets the OLED screen as a portable monitor for use with laptops. A suggested retail price is not yet known, nor is it clear when the screen will appear on the market.

There are virtually no monitors with OLED panels. Some laptops have been released with an OLED screen, including the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga and the most expensive version of the Dell Alienware 13.
