Asus announces VivoBook Pro with GTX 1050
Asus has announced two new VivoBook laptops: a thin 17.9mm model and a Pro system with Intel quad-core and GTX 1050. Asus announced the mainstream laptops at the Computex trade show in Taiwan.
The VivoBook S is the thin & light mainstream model that falls under the ZenBooks in Asus’s range, but the manufacturer claims to provide the model with high-end features. The 15.6″ laptop is 17.9 mm thick, weighs 1.5 kilograms and has an aluminum housing. As with the new ZenBooks, Asus uses thin screen edges, in this case 7.8 mm wide at the sides.
The laptop will be available with Core i3, i5 and i7 processors and optionally with a GeForce 940MX video card. As far as storage is concerned, the maximum is a 2TB HDD combined with a 512GB SSD. The network card is a 2×2 model with support for 802.11ac. The suggested retail price is $ 499, converted and with VAT, that is 540 euros, but this price applies to the simplest configuration.
A more powerful mainstream laptop is the VivoBook Pro. This is provided by Asus with Core i5 and i7 quadcores from Intel and the GTX 1050 from Nvidia. The maximum storage capacity is 2TB HDD and 512GB SSD storage. Optionally, the manufacturer also builds in Intel Optane memory for quickly launching applications and files. The 15.6″ laptop with UHD resolution is 19.2 mm thick, weighs 2.2 kilograms and has support for keyboard lighting. The starting price is $ 799.
