ASUS announces VivoBook Flip 14 laptop with ‘Intel’s first discrete video card’
ASUS has announced its VivoBook Flip 14 laptop. The laptop has, among other things, a Tiger Lake CPU and, according to the manufacturer, has ‘the first separate video card from Intel’. Recommended prices and release dates are still unknown.
The ASUS VivoBook Flip 14 seems to be the first announced laptop with a separate GPU from Intel. The product page of the laptop mentions ‘First Intel Discrete Graphics’, as VideoCardz writes. ASUS shares few details about this GPU. For example, the manufacturer does not mention a name on the product page, but Twitter user momomo_us noted that the name ‘Intel Iris Xe Max Graphics’ is mentioned in the metadata of the website.
The VivoBook Flip 14 probably uses a separate ‘Intel Iris Xe Max’ GPU
An Intel Iris Xe Max previously appeared in SiSoft Sandra’s database, Hot Hardware writes. Based on those results, the Intel Xe Max GPU would have 96 execution units. That is equal to the number of EU’s in the integrated GPU in the Core i7-1165 CPU. The GPU in the VivoBook Flip 14 also has 4GB of video memory, the specifications show.
The VivoBook Flip 14 also comes with an Intel Core i5-1135G7 or i7-1165G7. The laptop has a maximum of 16GB of lpddr4x-4266 memory and a PCIe SSD with a capacity of up to 1TB. The product page also mentions an Optane Memory H10 drive. That is an M.2 ssd with qlc-nand and 32GB of extra Optane memory for cache.
The laptop has a 14 “screen with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The manufacturer does not mention panel type or refresh rate. ASUS provides the laptop with a Thunderbolt 4 connector, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 type-A connector, a USB 2.0 port and an HDMI connection. The case is 324mm wide, 220mm deep and 18.7mm thick. The laptop weighs 1.5 kilograms.
