ASUS Announces ROG Strix SQ7 M.2 SSD Specifications

ASUS has revealed more details about the upcoming ROG Strix SQ7 M.2 2280 SSD with PCIe 4.0 interface. The SSD will only come in a 1TB configuration and is compatible with PCs and the PlayStation 5. There is no word yet on the retail price and release date.

The ROG Strix SQ7 is powered by a PS5018-E18 controller from Phison and uses 3D tlc nand memory chips. The lettering on the nand memory indicates Micron chips with 176 layers. The M.2 SSD has a DDR4 dram buffer and a ‘large slc cache’, but the company does not disclose concrete figures about this.

Furthermore, the ASUS subsidiary promises sequential read and write speeds of 7000 and 6000MB/s respectively. The company has not yet disclosed anything about the iops performance and lifespan.

The ASUS ROG Strix SQ7 is the gaming hardware company’s first M.2 SSD. Previously, ASUS already released M.2 housing under the Republic of Gamers brand.
