ASUS Announces 540Hz Gaming Monitor and 1440p Display with OLED Panel in ROG Series
ASUS announces several new ROG monitors at CES in Las Vegas. Among other things, the company comes with a ROG Swift Pro monitor with a 24 “diagonal and 540Hz refresh rate. The company also shows a 27” OLED screen with qhd resolution.
The ASUS ROG Swift Pro PG248QP gets a full HD resolution and a TN panel with 540Hz refresh rate, but that refresh rate must be achieved with an overclock. It is the first monitor with such a high refresh rate. Monitors currently go up to 360Hz, although Dell announced a 500Hz screen from Alienware earlier this week. ASUS said last year that it was working on a 500Hz screen, which should now reach 540Hz.
According to ASUS, the screen has a “60 percent lower response time” than before, but the company does not elaborate on that claim and does not mention a concrete gtg response time. The ROG Swift Pro display gets a G-Sync module for a variable refresh rate. The screen also has a built-in Nvidia Reflex Analyzer that allows users to measure system latency.
The monitor has a height-adjustable stand with a base that folds down for a more compact surface. ASUS does not mention a suggested retail price. The ROG products that ASUS will be showing at CES are expected in the Benelux in the first quarter of this year. A specific release date has not yet been announced.
ROG Swift OLED with 1440p resolution and 240Hz refresh rate
ASUS also comes with a ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDMgaming monitor. This OLED screen has a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and a 240Hz refresh rate. This OLED screen also gets a heatsink for higher brightness and less chance of burn-in. ASUS advertises a peak brightness of 1000cd/m² with HDR content on three percent of the screen area.
The screen must also be able to display 99 percent of the DCI-P3 color space and be delivered with a ΔE color deviation of less than two. The ROG Swift OLED has an advertised response time of 0.03ms. The monitor supports ASUS’ DisplayWidget Center software, which allows screen settings to be adjusted with a mouse instead of the on-screen display. Also for this screen, ASUS does not currently mention a suggested retail price.
