ASUS and Noctua Introduce GeForce RTX 3070 Graphics Card with Noctua Cooler
ASUS and Noctua have jointly announced a GeForce RTX 3070. The video card includes Noctua fans and a modified heatsink, which Noctua also contributed to. The video card will be released in mid-October.
The ASUS GeForce RTX 3070 Noctua Edition and its OC variant are the first video cards that the Austrian cooler manufacturer Noctua has contributed to. The video card will have a brown design, just like the standard products from Noctua. The backplate also has the Noctua colors.
The two companies report in a press release that the video card uses two NF-A12x25 fans, with a diameter of 120mm and a thickness of 25mm. This means that the video card takes up 4.3 slots, even though the GPU actually has a dual-slot design. The heatsink has also been modified in the Noctua Edition. For example, the location of the heat pipes and the fin density have changed for the airflow characteristics of the two Noctua fans.
The two companies claim that the GeForce RTX 3070 Noctua Edition is “the coolest and quietest video card in its class.” According to ASUS and Noctua, the video card is about 15dB quieter under medium fan speed than the ‘standard’ ASUS GeForce RTX 3070, which has three 92mm fans. At low fan speeds, the Noctua video card would reach a volume of 12.6dB, which would be 18.3dB with the regular RTX 3070 from ASUS. The fans of the video card will also stop spinning automatically when the GPU is cooler than 50 degrees Celsius.
ASUS and Noctua will release the video cards in mid-October, but an exact release date is not yet known. The manufacturers also do not report recommended prices yet. The arrival of an RTX 3070 from ASUS and Noctua comes as no surprise. At the beginning of August, a reference to such a video card appeared at the EEC. Last week, ASUS Taiwan already published images of the video card on its Facebook page.
