ASUS and Colorful make Intel Xe graphics cards with DG1 GPU for OEMs
Several manufacturers are releasing desktop video cards with Intel GPUs, Intel reports. It concerns video cards with the Intel DG1 GPU, which is also in laptops. Intel shows video cards from ASUS and Colorful, which are supplied to OEMs.
Intel says it has worked with two manufacturers on the separate video cards. Only ASUS is mentioned by name, but the metadata of the announcement page also mentions Colorful. A product page shows images of the DG1 video cards. It is a passively cooled model from ASUS and a variant with two fans from Colorful.
The product specifications page is not online at the time of writing. In the press release, Intel writes that the DG1 GPUs are equipped with 80 execution units of 4GB vram. These are 10nm Intel Xe GPUs similar to those for laptops, which are integrated in Intel Tiger Lake processors.
Intel’s new separate video cards for desktops are no more powerful than the igpus for laptops. The Xe Max has already been released for laptops, with 96 eu’s it is more powerful on paper than the DG1 variants for desktops. The separate video card does have a slightly higher TDP of 30W, which means that the clock speeds may be higher than the laptop variant with a TDP of 25W.
ASUS and Colorful plug-in cards are not for retail sale; the manufacturers are going to supply them to OEMs. Prices have not been disclosed. Intel is also working on powerful desktop graphics cards. They will receive the DG2 GPU, of which the first versions were turned on in the lab at the end of last year. It is not yet known when video cards with the DG2 chip will be released.
