Assassin’s Creed: Unity runs on consoles at 30fps with 1600×900 pixel resolution
Assassin’s Creed: Unity runs on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at 30fps and a resolution of 1600×900 pixels. Ubisoft would like to avoid dissatisfaction with the difference in performance.
Ubisoft has told VideoGamer that Assassin’s Creed: Unity on PS4 and Xbox One will have the same display. The developer would have equated the specifications so that there are no discussions about the performance of the game. The CPU would be the main bottleneck. It handles the computational tasks related to artificial intelligence and the many characters in the game. It was “a little frustrating” for the developer to be limited by the CPU.
Graphically, the game still looks good, according to Ubisoft. However, it is far from the maximum achievable. Graphically, the game could run at 100fps with the consoles’ GPUs, according to the senior producer, but due to the artificial intelligence in combination with the CPUs, the frame rate would be limited to 30fps. Ubisoft has released a statement after VideoGamer’s publication, stating that the specifications have not been lowered for either console. The goals that the company had in mind with the game would have been achieved.
Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag has been released for both consoles with the same specifications. A patch was later released for the PS4, which can upscale the game to a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. It is unknown if Ubisoft has similar plans for Assassin’s Creed: Unity.
