Patrice Désilets, creator of the Assassin’s Creed series, shows and discusses new footage from his project, Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey. The PC version will be released on August 27, followed by a digital release for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in December.

Developer Panache Digital Games released a new video about the game. This is the second video in a series of three. The game starts in Africa during the Neogene era where the player goes through life as an australopithecus. As a humanoid monkey, as the player progresses through the game, the player learns new skills and traits to continue evolving.

In order to survive, the player must expand his own clan, providing necessities such as water, food and shelter. There are also plenty of dangers in the forests and savannas of Africa, from a danger to themselves to predators that attack the player unexpectedly. Knowledge gained by the player during gameplay is passed on to the entire clan.

The idea for the game comes from Assassin’s Creed creator Patrice Désilets, who started his own studio at THQ after a stint at Ubisoft. After THQ went bankrupt, Ubisoft bought the studio back up. This did not last long, however; two months after the acquisition by Ubisoft, Désilets left again to found Panache Digital Games.

The game will be released on August 27 for PC, but will initially only be available to purchase from the Epic Games Store. After a year, he will also be released for other platforms. The game will be released in December for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
