ASRock has created a mini-itx motherboard that features Intel’s X99 platform for power users. The manufacturer has had to make some concessions in terms of features. In addition, ASRock announces motherboards with USB 3.1.

ASRock supplies its X99E-ITX/ac motherboard in combination with its own CPU cooler for Haswell-E’s narrow LGA2011-3 socket. Due to the limited size of the board, dual-channel memory was also chosen, where X99 normally has eight DDR4 slots. There is also only a single PCIe 3.0 x16 slot and six SATA600 connections.

Furthermore, the X99E-ITX/ac does have USB 3.1. Two ‘traditional’ type A interfaces on the board support this latest USB generation. Also present is ASRocks Ultra M.2, which uses an m2 slot for SSDs using the bandwidth of PCIe 3.0 x4. Prices and release date has not yet been announced by ASRock.
