ASRock comes with new Z170 motherboard with USB 3.1

ASRock announces the arrival of the Z170A-X1/3.1. The motherboard for Skylake processors gets two USB 3.1 ports. One socket has the type-c interface, the other a type-a connector. A cheaper version without USB 3.1 will also appear.

ASRock’s new Z170A-X1/3.1 motherboard uses the full atx form factor and accommodates a sixth-generation Intel processor with its Z170 chipset and socket 1151. Four DDR4 memory slots are available and the two PCIe 3.0×16 slots can accommodate a crossfire arrangement of two AMD video cards. Support for Nvidia’s sli is missing. Furthermore, there are three PCIe 3.0-x1 slots and the motherboard has six SATA 600 connections. A Realtek chip takes care of the sound reproduction, with support for a 7.1-channel setup.

The Z170A-X1/3.1 has two USB 3.1 ports, with a maximum theoretical speed of 10 Gbit/s. Both ports are located on the back of the motherboard, it is a ‘reversible’ type-c connector and a regular type-a variant. In addition to USB 3.1, the motherboard offers DVI-D, Ethernet, audio and PS2 connections. There are also six USB 3.0 ports on the back and two more USB 3.0 headers on the motherboard.

ASRock Europe announces that the Z170A-X1/3.1 is expected in the course of December and that the motherboard in the United States will have a retail price of 115 to 120 dollars. A variant without USB 3.1 will also appear, with model number Z170A-X1. This sign is expected to sell for 100 to 110 dollars. The dollar prices are exclusive of sales tax. Euro recommended prices are not yet known.
