ASRock announces Z370 variant of DeskMini barebone with mxm graphics cards
ASRock has announced a new version of its DeskMini barebone. The small box is now equipped with a motherboard with Z370 chipset, so that Coffee Lake CPUs can be used. There are versions with a GTX 1080, GTX 1060 or RX 580 in mxm format.
The ASRock DeskMini is based on the micro-stx format, which is an extended version of the mini-stx form factor. Due to the extra length, there is room for an MXM video card on the motherboard. The cabinet has dimensions of 21.3×15.5×8.2cm and a capacity of 2.7 liters.
The Z370 motherboard has two Sodimm slots for up to 32GB of DDR4 memory and three M2 slots for NVME SSDs. Two of the slots can also handle SATA SSDs. There are also two SATA connectors for connecting 2.5″ drives.
ASRock recommends using a processor with a maximum TDP of 65 watts. This means that the K versions of the Coffee Lake CPUs are excluded, but a Core i7-8700 or Core i5-8400, for example, should be suitable.
The manufacturer supplies the DeskMini barebones including an mxm-gpu on the motherboard. The top model has a GTX 1080 with 8GB GDDR5 memory on board. In addition, there is a version with a GTX 1060 6GB and a variant with an AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB. The video cards are equipped with a heatsink and fan.
Prices of the new DeskMini barebones has not been disclosed by ASRock. The brand already has variants in its range with the Intel B250 chipset. The GTX 1060 variant of this costs about seven hundred euros.
